The ideal time to visit this area is after the monsoon season from the month of September to March. This is the time when the weather remains very pleasant and you will be able to enjoy the varied activities at the camp to the fullest. During the summer the weather at the Dubare camp is around 34 degrees and it drops down to 21 degrees after monsoon. However, avoid visiting here during the monsoon months though. Even though the area looks its best with the lush greenery around in monsoon, the whole area gets muddy and slippery. It would not be very comfortable to explore the area during this time. Also the slippery pathway is a bit risky to walk on, so avoid visiting here during the monsoon.

When it is an elephant camp the most interesting activity here is obviously the elephant ride. This camp offers various activities related to elephants. One of the popular activities here is the three hour long elephant interaction. There are other activities too like a bath activity of 45 minutes. In this activity the tourists can give a bath to the elephants. Along with that they can also feed them with food items like sugarcane, ragi, jaggery, coconuts or bananas. This activity also includes a 45 minute elephant ride into the jungle which is equally interesting.

There is a boat ride as well to reach the camp which is a fun activity here. However keep in mind that there might be a queue of people waiting for their turn for the boat ride. So you must reach there early. But during the summer season the water levels get considerably low here. During that time you will have to walk on foot to cross the river, and that indeed can be one of the exciting experiences too. So depending on which season you are visiting you will be able to enjoy certain activities like this here. You can also try rafting here at the river beside the camp and that is yet another popular activity here. Also trekking and coracle rides are available here which you can try if you love adventure.

Apart from elephants the camp also has a variety of birds such as peacocks, kingfishers, partridges, woodpeckers etc. So it is also a good site for bird watching as well. This area is also a good spot that houses a number of wild animals too. You will find animals like tigers, wild dogs, spotted deer, and bears here.

Things to remember before visiting Dubare Elephant Camp

1.       You must wear good quality shoes with a good grip here as you might have to cross the river. However if you wish you can also leave your shoes outside the camp and cross the river barefoot.

2.       For elderly people and kids this might not be a suitable location to visit as the area gets really slippery during summer while crossing the river.

3.       You should carry an extra pair of clothes if you are willing to give a bath to the elephants as you will get wet during the activity.

4.       It would be better if you travel light here. You would not find it comfortable to visit the location with a lot of luggage.

5.       Do not litter the place and keep the surroundings clean.

6.       You should not tease the animals or do anything that might probably disturb them. Try to stay as calm as possible.

7.       If you are travelling here with children take extra care of them while going near the animals.
